Renewable Energy – About the Program
This section includes information on the following topics:
- Participant Demand – Sourcing Office received repeated requests from participants to provide a simplified solution to this emerging, complicated, and confusing industry.
- Desire to be "Green" – Renewable energy is an industry in which you can be green and actually save money at the same time.
- Lock in Lower Prices – In Ohio alone, the Public Utilities Commission has already approved rate hikes totaling 40% by 2015. Installing renewable energy solutions can fix the price you pay for a significant portion of your electricity consumption at or below current rates for the next 20 years.
- Reduce Capital Outlay – Many Sourcing Office participants have been hit hard by the economy and do not have sufficient funds available to invest in renewable energy capital projects.
- Access to Incentives – Many state and federal renewable energy incentives are not available to local governments and other non-taxable entities. As a result, installing renewable energy solutions was not a viable option for most of these types of entities.
- Prepare for the Future – Increasingly, state and federal legislation is mandating increased production of electricity from renewable energy sources.
- Conducted Extensive Research – Sourcing Office researched the renewable energy industry to learn about the various forms of renewable energy installations, evaluate existing options to finance renewable energy projects, and identify potential suppliers for this program.
- Developed the Request for Proposal – Sourcing Office developed an RFP seeking a supplier or suppliers capable of providing multiple types of renewable energy solutions, with nationwide installation and service capability, a single point of contact to work with participants throughout the entire process (the "general contractor" approach), that encompassed the primary forms of renewable energy generation (such as wind and solar), and offered a sustainable financing solution that minimizes or eliminates out-of-pocket costs for participants.
- Conducted Competitive Procurement Process – Sourcing Office published the RFP and conducted a competitive procurement process in accordance with applicable public sector procurement guidelines. Our team met with more than 15 potential suppliers, scored and evaluated each proposal, and selected the winning supplier.
- Breadth of Capabilities – Renivus provides multiple forms of renewable energy installations including wind and solar. Additionally, Renivus is able to consult, install, and support solutions ranging from residential to utility-scale.
- General Contractor Approach – Renivus has assembled the resources necessary to manage every stage of a renewable energy project, from the initial analysis and engineering work, to all zoning requirements, to working with the appropriate utility to tie either the wind or solar solution into the electric grid, and ultimately the ongoing service and maintenance of the equipment.
- Nationwide Capability – Renivus has the ability to finance, install, and maintain renewable energy projects throughout the United States and Canada.
- Unique Financing Solution – Renivus has created a sustainable financing solution that minimizes upfront costs, provides access to state and federal incentives, and enables participants to fix the price they pay for a significant portion of their electricity consumption at or below current rates for the next 20 years.
